The Juanelle Barbee Edwards papers consists of fifteen photographs (3 black and white; 12 color; 3 1/2" x 5"; 5" x 7"; and 8" x 10") of activities in which Edwards was involved and/or attended, ca. 1977 - ca. 1980. Images document her work with the Democratic Party and her work for the passage of the ERA in Georgia. One group of images was photographed at a tribute dinner given in honor of long-time women's rights activist and Georgian, Mamie K. Taylor, in about 1977. Taylor was the chair of the first Commission on the Status of Women established in 1963 and had campaigned for the ERA since the 1920's.

Juanelle Barbee Edwards, speaker and writer for the Democratic Party, was born in Eastman (Dodge County), Georgia in 1923 and attended Middle Georgia College (Cochran, Ga.). She married John Wiley Edwards in 1948. A resident of Marietta, Georgia, Edwards has long been active in her community and in Democratic party politics. She served as treasurer and then president of the Georgia Federation of Democratic Women. At the 1977 fall meeting of the GFDW she sponsored a unanimously adopted resolution...
